UTA’s one-week, hands-on courses get straight to the point of what technicians need to succeed. Every course is roughly one-third classroom and two-thirds lab, all tools and instruments are provided, and there is no pre-course work — so you can enroll at any time.

Start here
Designed for novice, intermediate and experienced technicians alike. Electrical for HVAC and Refrigeration AC/HP need no prerequisite and either may be taken first.

Electrical for HVAC
The theory of electricity, proper wiring and safety, and the electrical components behind every service and installation call.

Refrigeration AC/HP Technology
The refrigeration cycle end to end — proper charging, troubleshooting, brazing, evacuation and recovery.

Electrical first, or electrical experience
Heating Technology
Gas furnaces, boilers and heat systems — combustion, sequence of operation, and diagnosing what actually failed.

Installation Technology
Every aspect of replacing heating and air units. Ideal for installation assistants and lead techs who want sharper technical skills.

Advanced Service Diagnostics
Electrical, heating, A/C and heat-pump diagnostics for experienced techs. Covers several topics, so it rewards a solid base.

Which order should a tech take them in?
For newer technicians we recommend at least two of the core courses taken in a row, or within a few weeks of each other:
- Cooling season — Electrical for HVAC, then Refrigeration AC/HP Technology
- Heating season — Electrical for HVAC, then Heating Technology
